Bluewhite64 12.0 IA32 Emulation miniHOWTO ----------------------------------------- Bluewhite64 Linux 12.0 support the IA32 emulation. The emulation consist in a 32-bit (run-time libraries) packages collection from Slackware 12.0. Huge Thanks! Also, the linux kernels are built with the IA32 Emulation enabled. First, all this packages will be kept in the testing/ directory and later will be placed into the extra/ software. The packages will be installed in /lib32 and /usr/lib32 directory, so, you don't have to worry about to mess up with the 64-bit libs ;). Installation ------------ Get all packages found in testing/packages/ia32-emulation/* and use the 'installpkg *.tgz' command to install all packages. Then, edit /etc/ld.so.conf, add /lib32 and /usr/lib32 path, save your file and run ldconfig. Now your system have the IA32 emulation enabled ;). NOTES: ===== * The 32-bit emulation is designed ONLY to run 32-bit 3rd party programs on Bluewhite64 12.0! * You may not install official Slackware packages on your system, they are not compatible and will overwrite the existing 64-bit libs and programs. (To run 32-bit Mozilla Firefox, download the archive from www.mozilla.com, extract it in your home directory, cd in to the firefox directory and run firefox with './firefox' command. You can rename it to firefox32 and place a link to your desktop ;). ) * The 32-bit compilation support is disabled and you cannot create 32-bit binaries. * If you want to run 3rd party 32-bit applications, make sure that you are install the 32-bit libraries in /lib32 or /usr/lib32 and run ldconfig. More information about running 32-bit Flash9 and 64-bit Mozilla Firefox please visit the Bluewhite64 Linux forums at the "How it's made?" section. Please test it as much as you can and send feedback to info[at]bluewhite64.com or post it to the Bluewhite64 Linux forums at the "Bluewhite64 Linux 12.0" section. Have fun! arny
