Subject: Welcome to Slackware Linux for ARM / AArch64
To: root

Welcome to your new ARM-based system running Slackware Linux!

Slackware Linux is one of the Grandfathers of the Linux/OpenSource
world, with a heritage of almost thirty years.

Slackware presents a modern Linux/GNU based environment, coupled
with an Operating System environment that retains the traditional
Unix-style user interface.

The Slackware ARM project makes Slackware available on the two
primary ARM architectures:

 * 32-bit ARMv7: Slackware ARM

 * 64-bit ARMv8: Slackware AArch64
   (also known as "ARM64" in the Linux Kernel and some other
    Linux distributions).

A number of devices are supported out of the box, and the
Slackware ARM community extends support to a wider range of
ARM-based devices that this author alone cannot support
directly.

For more information on the supported platforms, please see
http://arm.slackware.com

===================================

The official Slackware support forum is on LinuxQuestions,
in which an 'ARM' subform exists for Slackware ARM / AArch64:

If you have questions, please raise them there - and feel
free to say hello and introduce yourself to the community there.

"Slack Chat" podcast
===================================

You'll find some insights into how the Slackware ARM distribution
is created and maintained, and discussion about Slackware generally

Hello!

Maintenance of the Slackware ARM/AArch64 port takes not only a lot of
time, but also has financial costs such as the on-going use of electricity,
Internet hosting and purchasing and maintenance of ARM hardware.

Once you find yourself enjoying using the ARM port of Slackware, please take
a few moments to show your appreciation:

There are presently two options:

 * Patreon (monthly recurring) - preferred

 * Paypal (supports on-off donations)

Visit the URL below to find out the details:
